There are some great hiking trails in the area around Ashland. From casual strolls to climbing a peak, there is something here for everyone. Check out some of these hikes while you are in the area whitewater rafting and fishing.
Grizzly Peak offers fantastic views of the Rogue River Valley and the city of Ashland from its 5922’ summit. Wild flowers, elk, deer and on a clear day, the Cascades, will greet you as you wind your way up to the top of the summit. The entire trip is only about four miles, roundtrip.
The Pacific Crest trail stretches all the way from Mexico to Canada, and along the way passes close to Ashland as it crosses Mt Ashland. This is a nice section to check out on this famous trail.
Pilot Rock is an old remnant of a once active volcano, basalt that formed into hexagonal columns which appear they were man-made! This short hike will put you on top of the formation, with good views of the Siskiyous, Cascades and the Rogue River Valley. The spot is also popular with rock climbers who practice their craft on the steep cliffs.
A short hike to the top of the Table Rocks plateau will reward you with views of the Siskiyous, Cascades, and in the spring, more wildflowers than you can count! This area is managed by the Nature Conservancy to insure it will always be here for everyone to enjoy.
