Cal Salmon & Scott River Trip Facts & Details

TRIP LOCATION AND CLASSIFICATION:  The Salmon River of northernmost California is a very beautiful, challenging and sometimes intense Class IV-V springtime SUPER STAR river. Located near the Oregon/California border, 100 miles west of I-5 freeway and 80 miles east of the Pacific Ocean, it is the western border of the Marble Mountain Wilderness Area and the dividing line between the Klamath National Forest and the Six Rivers National Forest.

CRAFT USED: We use 13' and 14' self-bailing, stern drive paddle rafts - our safest, most exciting, powerful and controllable rafting method.  This format has you actively, directly involved as a paddle raft crew member. The regular paddle rafting format is also used for the more daring and physically fit when water level and crew selections allow. All rafts are equipped with toe cones and grab handles for your added safety.

RESTRICTIONS/REQUIREMENTS:  Participants must be at least 16 years of age, in good health, possess stamina and agility and be strong swimmers. IT IS MANDATORY that participants be mentally and physically capable of dealing with an unexpected swim in turbulent water.  IF, IN THE OPINION OF THE TRIP LEADER OR HEAD GUIDE, any individual's health or safety is or may be unduly jeopardized or may jeopardize the safety of any other participant, then that/those individual(s) may be restricted partially or totally from participating.  Prior heart problems, strokes, pregnancy, poor physical health or strength, previous or present back problems, and obesity are common reasons for such restrictions, so please be honest with yourself and us.

WHAT'S PROVIDED:  All necessary river equipment for your complete comfort and safety; fully trained, highly skilled and experienced Class V senior river guides; wet suits, splash jackets and wet socks; transportation to and from your designated rendezvous point and the river; lunch, juice, and purified water each day; and waterproof protective bags for your camera, keys, extra clothing and valuables.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING:  Dress for comfort for your ride to and from the river.  Plan and pack for cool evenings/mornings, warm days, and the possibility of spring showers.  If you're taking our two-day trip or staying overnight before or after this trip, then bring:  a change of clothes and undergarments;  toiletries, towel and wash cloth;   medication as may be needed;  personal beverage, wine, and/or liquor;  camera and film; and yes, musical instruments.

PACKING LIST-RIVER ATTIRE:  Those things you don't mind getting wet: Swimsuit, shorts or cut-offs; one set of capilene, spandex, or polypropylene as an underlayer; a sweater for the second layer (pile, fleece, polartec, or wool - no cotton); wet suit booties or aqua socks or lace/strap-type sandles or older, stretched out, oversized tennis shoes which can be worn over our neoprene wet socks; retainers for sun or prescription glasses; sun visor or baseball hat and sunblock.

INSURANCE:  NOAH'S RIVER ADVENTURES meets and complies with all state and federal insurance requirements.   Vacation and  travel insurance is available through most insurance companies and/or their agents.  In many cases, you are already partially or fully covered through your present health and accident policy.  Please check this out and act accordingly.

RIVER/WEATHER CONDITIONS:  Safety is our first and most important guideline.  If, in the opinion of the head guide, at any time, the water conditions are too dangerous due to excessively high or impassively low water, the trip may be canceled or the running of certain rapids altered or portaged.

Rarely will rainy conditions or rain cancel a scheduled trip.  The temperatures in April and May are generally high 60's and 70's.  80's are common in May and June with some days in the 90's.  Spring and summer showers usually pass through quickly.  We plan and pack each trip accordingly for your greatest comfort, including FREE wet suits and splash jackets if needed.

CANCELLATIONS, NO SHOW:  We refund 100% of the fees paid when you notify NOAH'S by phone, in person, or in writing at least 48 hours prior to trip departure.  There is NO REFUND IF YOU CANCEL OR NO SHOW WITHIN 48 HOURS of your scheduled trip.
