The ROGUE RIVER'S "Gold Nugget Run" Trip Facts & Details (ALL-DAY)

TRIP LENGTH AND LOCATION: 12 river miles on the Rogue River beginning a short distance below Gold Ray Dam, 22 miles north of Ashland, 25 miles south of Grants Pass, Oregon.

CLASSIFICATION/DIFFICULTY: All trip classifications of difficulty are based on the International Rating Scale of Class I‑VI:  I is very mellow and easy, VI is considered by most, unrunnable.  This trip begins mellow and progresses through Class II ‑ III rapids, topped off with two exciting but safe Class IV rapids.  You may walk around the two Class IV rapids if you so choose.  This is an excellent trip for beginners - an introduction to quality whitewater rafting; a place to learn paddle rafting from A to Z.

CRAFT(S) AND FORMAT USED:  For rafting we use state-of-the-art, 14' self‑bailing rafts.  All rafts are equipped with toe cones and grab handles for your added safety.  All rafts have a certified, personable and professional guide at the helm.  Our on-the-water format is threefold: Paddle rafting is the spirited team effort, everybody participating approach; Stern-drive paddle (SDP) rafting involves  the guide utilizing a rowing frame and oars from the rear of the raft for more control and calling all the paddle rafting commands, keeping you actively involved; and, Excursion rafting is for those  who choose to sit back, relax and leave the driving to us - non-participating.

For the afternoon activity, after an all-you-can-eat scrumptious lunch, you have the choice of continuing to raft or playing along in one of our one or two-person, self-bailing inflatable kayaks.  These high-quality kayaks are easy to balance, very forgiving and fun, fun, fun - an exciting one-on-one whitewater challenge.

TRIP CONCLUDES: At Valley of the Rogue State Park boat landing at approximately 3:30 p.m.  After derigging the rafts, changing to comfortable clothing, and selecting a drink of choice, we return you to your original rendezvous point.

RESTRICTIONS:  Minimum age of 6 and reasonably good health for SDP rafts.  For paddle rafting, ages 12 and up. Previous experience is not necessary for this trip. For safety concerns for children under the age of 10, we will evaluate and may require a walk-around of the first class IV rapid.
