Whitewater Guide School 2008

Noah’s River Adventures Whitewater guide schools offer a complete foundation into the world of whitewater recreation.  Whether you grew up on the river or have yet to take your first trip, we start with the basics and rapidly (no pun intended) progress as a class into more advanced instruction.  You will be working individually on some lessons and as a team on most lessons, setting the stage for lifelong friendships with classmates.  Attention to detail is important and is why we set an instructor/student ratio of 1:3, guaranteeing that thought is given and questions are answered.  These skills will stay with you the rest of your life, and whether you're on a relaxing family float or an intense class 5 adventure, having the knowledge and being prepared are the most vital aspects.  As with our commercial trips, everything is provided for you for the duration of the school.  Food, transportation, gear, equipment, and materials are all included with tuition.

Skills covered:

- river and equipment terminology
 - river anatomy
 - safety
 - safety talk
 - rescue
 - rigging

 - paddle boat/stern frame assist captaining
 - rope work
 - quick haul systems
 - guest etiquette
 - general medical
 - boat flip/wrap recovery
 - throwbag drill
 - trip structure
 - gear/boat maintenance

Continued training is essential.  Time on the river is the best teacher after a good base of knowledge is obtained.  Noah’s River Adventures and guides train on a variety of rivers with different degrees of difficulty.  As a graduate of our guide school you are invited to come and share these experiences with us.

SESSION 1 WHITEWATER SCHOOL:  $390-all inclusive

MARCH 25 - 27 2008.  On the wilderness section of the famous Wild and Scenic Rogue River.  This session works well for most high school and university students as well as teachers.  Three days of hands-on learning in one of the best training grounds anywhere.   We will camp two nights on our way down this 38 mile stretch of river.  We do not believe in roughing it on our trips so rest assured you will be very comfortable regardless of the weather.

SESSION 2 WHITEWATER SCHOOL:  $390-all inclusive

MARCH 31 - APRIL 2 2008.  On the wilderness section of the

famous Wild and Scenic Rogue River.  Same format as the date

above but geared more towards boaters with a bit of experience.

RESCUE COURSE:  $390-all inclusive

MARCH 28 - 30 2008 Rescue 3 international certification.  3 day

intensive boat and shore based rescue

training.  This course will be based out of a lodge for the simple fact that we will be in the water quite a bit for

training.  The lodge will allow us to warm up and dry out for the lectures and discussions.  Whether you are thinking about becoming a commercial guide

or looking to improve your skills as a private boater, this class is a must.
