Oregon Fishing Report

2008 Fishing reports

March. 20, 21, 22
Both the South Umpqua near Canyonville and Rogue River in the Merlin area have been producing good to excellent Winter Steelhead fishing from Mar 20-22 kicking out a lot of feisty bright 10-13#ers with several in the teens and the rare but awesome 20#ers. Noah scored 10 adults from 15 fights while Bill Urie, Randy and Rob Nelson and several of the other regular guides were doing the same. However, the heavy snow and rain that hit our area recently and rendered access to the Rogue, Umpqua and Coquille River system very difficult with minimal fishing activity going on. The Rogue went high and turbid while the Umpqua came back into reasonable to good fishing. The outlook for the rest of march looks like the rogue will be our number one option. Conditions are favorable and the fish counts are rising.

P.S. Don’t forget that the well-equipped professionally guided drift-boats have in-boat propane heaters and overhead canopies to promote comfort during these colder times of year. We call them creature comforts
