The ROGUE RIVER'S "Gold Nugget Run" Trip Facts & Details (HALF-DAY)TRIP LENGTH AND LOCATION: Six river miles on the Rogue River beginning a short distance below Gold Ray Dam, 18 miles north of Ashland, 22 miles south of Grants Pass, Oregon.
CLASSIFICATION/DIFFICULTY: All trip classifications of difficulty are based on the International Rating Scale of Class I‑VI. Class I is very mellow and easy. Class VI is considered by most, unrunnable. This trip begins mellow and progresses through Class II ‑ III rapids, topped off with two exciting but safe Class IV's. You may walk around the Class IV rapids if you choose. This is an excellent trip for beginners, an introduction to quality whitewater rafting and a place to learn paddle rafting from A to Z.
RAFTS AND FORMAT USED: For rafting we use state-of-the-art, 14' self‑bailing rafts. All rafts are equipped with toe cones and grab handles for your added safety. All rafts have a professional, certified, personable guide at the helm. Our on-the-water format is threefold: Paddle rafting, the spirited team effort, everybody participating approach; stern-drive paddle rafting (SDP) where the guide utilizes a rowing frame and oars from the rear of the raft for more control while continuing to give you information, instructions and calling all the paddle rafting commands and keeping you actively involved; and, excursion rafting for those that choose to sit back, relax and leave the driving to us - non-participating.
TRIP CONCLUDES: At the Gold Hill Sports Park boat landing. We will return you to your beginning rendezvous point.
RESTRICTIONS: Minimum age of 8 and reasonably good health for SDP rafts. For paddle rafting, age 12 and up. Previous experience is not necessary for this trip. For safety concerns, children under the age of 10 or others with physical limitations, we will evaluate and may require a walk-around of the first and/or second class IV rapid.
WHAT'S PROVIDED: All necessary river equipment for your complete comfort and safety; fully trained, experienced and highly skilled river guides; transportation to and from your designated rendezvous point and the river; a snack made up of freshly prepared vegetables and dip, cheeses, salami, chips, assorted fruits, cookies, lemonade, ice tea and bottled or purified water; an assortment of sodas at the conclusion of the rafting activity; waterproof protective bags for your camera, keys, extra pieces of clothing and personal valuables; if and when needed, neoprene wet suits, socks and booties, fleece sweaters and splash jackets; and, our warm and friendly conversation, stories and history of the areas flora, fauna and wildlife identification.
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING: (PACKING LIST) River Attire: Those things you don't mind getting wet; Swim suit, shorts or cut‑ offs; tennis shoes which lace tight or sandals the lace or strap to your ankle, thongs are not good enough; retainers for prescription glasses or sun glasses; sun visor or baseball hat; sun block; long sleeve light weight shirt and pants if prone to sunburn; clothing, other than your river attire, for a comfortable ride to and from your river adventure, often worn over your river attire as there are no dressing rooms at the put-in point.
Other accessories: According to weather conditions and potential needs, common to trips before mid‑June and after Labor Day: wool or fleece socks and sweater, shoes and socks (other than the ones you wear on the rafting trip) towel and wind breaker or jacket.
LIABILITY RELEASE AND RISK UNDERSTANDING FORM: We are proud of our excellent safety record. We do everything we can to make each and every trip as safe and incident free as we possible, both on and off the water. However, you should understand that there are inherent risks involved which you must assume in order to participate in this raft trip.
With the exception of negligence, Noah's River Adventures, its agents or employees cannot be held responsible for injury or illness, loss or damage of personal property, delays, loss of income or any cost or expenses incurred or resulting from any such occurrence while on or associated with this river trip. The LIABILITY RELEASE AND RISK UNDERSTANDING FORM, which will be made available before or at the time of the trip and MUST BE SIGNED IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE.
INSURANCE: Noah's River Adventures meets and complies with all state and federal insurance requirements.
RIVER/WEATHER CONDITIONS: Safety is our first and most important guideline. If, in the opinion of the head guide, at any time, the water conditions are too dangerous due to excessively high or impassively low water, the trip may be cancelled or the running of certain rapids altered or portaged.
ALL RAFT TRIPS RUN RAIN OR SHINE: The temperatures in April and May are generally 60's and 70's. 80's are common in May, June and September with some days in the 90's. High 80's through the low 100's are common in July and August. Spring and summer showers usually pass through quickly. Summertime morning cloud cover usually burns off (dissipate) by mid-day.
We plan and pack each trip accordingly for your greatest comfort - including wet suits, fleece sweaters, splash jackets and wet suit booties.
BALANCE DUE: The remaining balance is due at least 48 hours prior to trip commencement, payable to our office at 53 N. Main Street in Ashland, mail or over the phone via your credit card.
CANCELLATIONS, NO SHOW: We refund 100% of the fees paid when you notify Noah's River Adventures by phone, in person, Email, or in writing at least 48 hours prior to trip departure. There is NO REFUND IF YOU CANCEL OR NO SHOW WITHIN 48 HOURS of your scheduled trip.
